Just a little side trip here, by way of Raph Koster and Sources and Methods, comes Auditorium, a Flash game that’s both beautiful to look at and fun to play: each level introducing a bit more challenge but never to the point of absolute frustration (and besides, even if frustrated, the music makes it worthwhile).

Now, if only we could make particles do this kind of thing.
