“Becoming like America?” Please.

As an American living in Oceania for the past year, I can tell you America is nothing like this, nor has it ever been.

Australia is the ONLY COUNTRY without an adult rating system. Which means your censorship is totally unique to your country.

And it’s not just this – a month or so ago they banned A-cup women from being seen in porn because their boobs are apparently too small.

I don’t know what the hell is going on in Australia, but I sure as hell don’t want to catch it.

i am an aussie and i met my gf on secondlife, at the moment sl is ours only means of being together on a level better than msn, on sl we can dance, we can go riding together…until we marry sl is our only chance to be together…..this just isnt fair!

Ive heard, read and studied this since I heard of it and Im still confused, does it need to be passed? Or can they simply put it into effect when they wish.

I have extreme Agoraphobia in real life, I cant socialise as much as Id like so for me secondlife is a way to do so, to meet people and have support from others like me.

When my husband left me I became suicidal, it was counceling services and group sessions on secondlife that pulled me through.

Then theres the churches for people who cant attend them in real life, the fund raising and so much more.

Ive heard theres plenty of ways around this filter, studied this also however its not the point.

Taking away from people and enforcing these totalarian laws is nothing short of discusting, Ill never vote labor again.

Farther Jones: during my time in SL I have never put in money of my own but then I create nearly all of my stuff and creation is my primary point of being in SL, being able to play with toy graphics with friends.

Dusan Writer, no offence but this is nothing new, SL can’t be classified and thus can’t be banned, let alone nothing really has been done to prevent online R rated games from being played in Australia, he’s just another guppy politician trying to win approval.

Too many people are losing too much money on Zyngo. And it is for sure a gambling game first class. Even with the blue and green jokers, it is definitly a game of chance, like bingo is considered one. Talking about too much money, I mean like people playing for 1000 USD in one hour. Did you guys ever searched for high roller places with Zyngo? You can play machines there for 5000 (17 USD)up to 50000 Linden Dollars (175 USD) a game, with pots to win up to 1 million Linden Dollars (3500 USD). And that is what the creator of the game and the owners of those places call an innocent game of skill for fun? I wonder when someone will have the guts to bring this to the right people, the press, the financial company’s Linden Lab is depending on, and also of course the US government,… We are not only talking about Zyngo in this matter. There are lots of ‘zyngo-clones’ produced lately by other programmers that are made for the very same purpose: making huge money, not just the money you need to buy you a pair of shoes, a piece of land and a house to live in your virtual world. Millions of dollars are running around in this gamblingbusiness on Second Life. Anyone doubting my words: just take a look yourself inworld.

In Australia the transcripts of what is said in Parliament are known as “Hansard”. Senator Conroy’s specific answer to the question about blocking (not banning – blocking access) can be read here:

Page 95 (PDF page 109), Scott Ludlam, Question 1496.13: “Will computer games exceeding the requirements of the MA15+ classification be RC and potentially blocked by ISPs on a mandatory basis for adults; if not, what other exceptions to RC would be similarly permitted.”

Page 96 (PDF page 110), Stephen Conroy’s Answer: “Computer games that exceed an MA15+ rating are deemed to be RC content as there is no R18+ or X18+ rating. RC content will be included in the mandatory filtering of RC content under the Government’s proposal. Issues relating to the classification of computer games fall within the Attorney-General’s portfolio.

G’Day, This is stupidity at its…

The last thing on my mind was whether or not i was hiding behind an anonymous entry. Just like http://www.ninemsn.com.au & Yahoo.com.au (forums & some articles ect), I am used to giving titles to the name, one could say it helps a little bit with expressions.. though as you know, words one paper are just that and can be harder to interpret.

I didnt realize this was a blog, assuming it was another article.. i came to this blog via a post and link sent in The Friggin Aussies group chat within SL and with seeing so much propaganda going around and everyone panicking i realized well someone has to sit back and think about it.

I did put in my email address as it is a requirement of posting on this page.. It doesnt concern me to much, though it was a suggestion that i thought the website might like to look into as most site/forums/blogs these days do offer such features. So my apology only for not taking a closer look at who or what this page is as i was more concerned about the article/articles themselves more so then the page.
