As I reported a few months ago, it's all based on Jive Software's SBS community software, which is an extraordinarily powerful tool. Jive's approach is to produce a really smooth interface that is socially engineered to encourage the highest level of adoption by the intended user base. Linden Lab could have done a lot worse by selecting another tool to base their web interface upon. I’m quite high on this new service too.
