Lap – great questions. I believe the idea is that Nebraska won’t be connected to the main grid at all, so I don’t believe it will have an impact on bandwidth or server load in Second Life.

The question of content however is an interesting one. There’s no public word yet on whether content from the Main Grid can be ported over to the stand-alone servers. Content protection questions are critical.

Finally, I don’t know what you mean about a Windows platform – my belief is you will be able to access stand-alone Grids the same way you do the main grid – Mac, PC or Linux. How the servers themselves are configured is a different question but I would imagine a mirror of how Grids in SL are served perhaps.

Question, I once suggested a standalone server solution to some people, and the reply was that the idea was sound, however it took content off the LL servers and scattered it around the globe out of LL control. Have they now found that spreading the bandwidth and server load around will lighten up the load on LL? I’m also wondering if this will be the same platform but with a higher level game play, as in Silver, Gold, Platnium, etc.

Where do I begin? Will my company be able to do document collaboration? Is there an easier way for uploading slides? What kind of support are they providing? How much is this going to cost? Is there going to be a solid promo pack for the evangelists to present this solution to C-Level Execs?

I hope they’re not planning on throwing this out on the market and let it sink or swim.
