It wouldnt be bad for SL economy if LL take crisis into account and lowered a bit land prices to give us some flexibility. After all, they let go lots of people, surely theirs expent is much less now... Great text Dusan, right on the nail.

Dick. Its time for SL to die and Opensim Hypergrid to thrive. That's how I see it, I sure many would disagree angrly with me, but there I said it! Really thought provoking post. I agree with you and also with James. The lab was working on intergrid tp some time ago and I noticed IS still involved in this, being the prime mover behind the Virtual World Region Agent Protocol (vwrap)t. This is a huge leap towards LL accepting their place as the originator of this kind of environment, but not necessarily the sole controllers of it. Opensim is evolving slowly but still, for my money, can't really compete at the same level. It was also a stated goal to opensource the server code. I realise this would present lots of challenges but surely it would also lead to the breaking down of the walls that keeps most people out. It seems to me that its inevitable that eventually a "metaverse of metaverses" will emerge and LL still holds the tools to make that revolutionary leap. If they don't someone else will. I still have such high hopes for Second Life and I am introducing new users as often as I can. The experience is tantamount to success and accessibility/communication is tantamount to the experience. Hypergridding could be the litmus test of just how much Linden Labs really wants to define the future or briefly profit from it. I believe accomodating the hypergrid protocols would facilitate access, improve the experience, and increase membership! Dusan, you have brought an amazing clarity of vision to this issue.
