The following is a map of the common user experience of Second Life posted as part of a serious dissertation on bringing users up to speed in Second Life.
This map was validated using advanced statistical and research tools (hey, it was published out of the University of Texas at Austin so it must be serious!). It uses something called Interactive Qualitative Analysis.
Much like the business world where "aggregate communities" means "get people to show up", academia has its own language that requires careful interpretation.
