ABC News Australia reports on the forthcoming completion of the million-dollar Human Interface Technology (HIT) Lab that will open in March at the University of Tasmania.
The lab will focus on creative design and interactive entertainment, and will allow students to create 3D virtual worlds that people can explore using 3D glasses. It will be only the third lab of its kind in the world, joining the HIT Lab US at the University of Washington and the HIT Lab NZ at the University of Canterbury.
“There are only three in the world,” said Lab director Professor Young Choi to ABC, “and we will be one of the world leaders by definition, but the actual work we do in the next three to five years will make us world leaders in this area.”
