Avatar Expressions Driven from Your, Um, Face
Business in Virtual Worlds, Second Life | (1)
Yesterday brain controlled avatars, today something a little less surreal (and perhaps a little less transformative) in the form of Fix8, which connects Web cam inputs to avatar facial expressions.
The platform isn't Second Life ready - but hints at the promise of being able to connect user inputs far beyond the mouse and simple HUD-based animations to actually link real facial expressions to those of your avatar.
Which brings up an interesting question for those who are using virtual worlds immersively - do you really want people to know what your face is saying "behind the mask"?
