Doubledown Tandino is in the spotlight over on CNN this week with a focus on “Best Jobs” – and I really can’t help applauding the coverage, mainly because DD is one of those people who just – well, who just makes you smile.
Whether going head-to-head with witty comments in the pre-show at Metanomics, contributing to the back chat, or doing some kind of riffing stand-up madness, DD is one of those people who makes the Grid what it is.
Check it out, but also – don’t be shy and hire the guy! He’s not only an amazing DJ but he can also make a corporate event, not-for-profit outreach effort or even an educational seminar memorable and effective. With training in the serious benefits of comedy plus his skills as a DJ he’s an avatar for the 21st Century.
Way to go, Doubledown!!!

Congrats Doubledown!! You’ve got it right, this is the future!!
Thanks Dusan and everyone! It is indeed a great job done by CNN.
The ironic thing though… as this video interview gets posted by CNN, my chances for survival are very slim in Second Life. I’m on my last leg of Second Life as a freelance entrepreneur. Unless someone offers me a full time employee position soon, I’m afraid I’ll have to leave my profession of Second Life, and turn it back into a hobby.
It’s time for me (and others) to get real about Second Life. It’s working for some, it used to work for many more… but, when is the time going to come when I can get a solid job working for a solid boss, team, and company within Second Life? It needs to come to me soon, or I’m afraid there’s no other choice for me but to find real life work out of desperation. UGH..
expected that..
BEST JOBS?
Slave. Share Cropper?
stop the madness..
Philip has a Pool and a Pond… A Pond would be good for you…
I was interested in why no Dollar amount was mentioned.
LIfe as a game. 10000 fans…kevin kelly long tails between his legs. and another “publisher” hides behind DCMA.
dont worry DD.. the new browse will bribg many unpaying listerners to your talents.:) and “someone” will sell those banner ads.;)
ah. i listened now to full interview…
very honest DD on hthe 2006-2007 “real money value…. 150 max..etc… kudos to you.
and you did report the “decline” of money spent since 2007…. leading to your current posts predicament…
beleive me. i wish you had a platform that allowed you to find those 10000 fans, and make 20-30k a year.USD…minimum..
but the LL pyramid, like the egyptians, is only for the kings..:)
jesters only sing for the momemtary good will of the lords…;)
back to food biz.:(
Great response feedback Cube et al.
In the interview, I did talk about more monetary specifics, and I’m glad that part of the interview was cut out.
The funny truth is that most of my Second Life entrepreneurial business doesn’t come from DJing and music inworld… it comes from clients hiring me for multi directional marketing, social media & networking. The “DJ thing” seems to be what most people are fascinated about….
The “DJ in a virtual world as a job” seems to make the best story…. but the truth is that it’s only a portion of my income… and my FULL income is only a PORTION.
I am in desperate need of finding a way to be an employee for a company inworld, so I can use ALL of my skills and talents to work for ONE company. I think I’m spreading myself too thin. I need to find a way to be in-house for one company rather than freelance.
i get ya DD.
the problem is youll find that the days of INWORLD COMPANIES has past..and that the only real choice you have is to keep freelancing- keep hunting/pitching for work 24/7–or eventually work for LL, since they want to own it all.. As did most vr worlds or meta/ publishers have shown us in the last decade of 3 year bubble “thought leader” companies…one after the death of another.;)
From the 30/cent to a Dollar Linden, Open sourceing the copying of datacontent, to now (so far) removing many of the features inworld those who made money from needed-places search with values- LL has made your story the common story..
meanwhile they FIC, and purchase any ideas inworld that work for anybody else….
mel brooks- its good to be the king– oh pissboy- cube3
