Some of us do believe.
I second Brinda’s comment. Yes, some of us do still believe. Second Life can and does change people’s lives. Too many residents have become jaded by their angers and frustrations and they lose sight of why they are in Second Life and what it means. I try to explore Second Life regularly to remind me of these things. I always thought that when I run out of things to do in Second Life, it would be time to leave. 3.4 years later and I’m still there!
I assume all that “art” will be moved to free sims now on the linden 70. so that the “artists” dont have to worry about “money” or monthly linden policy change “drama”
everything has a cost. Stop thinking like Eloy.

Could the Chinese communists hating on money and sex let us know what kind of grants they get from the Chinese government? Or whatever it is that is supporting these socialists?
I realize they may all be Tragically Misunderstood Arists just Selflessly Giving to the People, but then…it’s either Big IT supporting them in handsomely-paid RL jobs (AM Radio) or other unseen springs of support (ranging from trust funds, to big government grands in the U.S. or EU or elsewhere, to Mom’s Basement).
So — unimpressed. Sex and money make RL go round; they make SL go round. And God bless ‘em. Drama too — drama defines the 3-D world. If you can’t build or script, you can at least create drama, it still has that capacity, instead of just going and gawking at stuff the Lindens have put in the Destination Guide like the projects featured here.
Why do you do this, Dusan? What’s in it for you?
and no, no Sam Lowry for president.
I believe in Second Life *around* these people. Let them do their thing; let them — and Dusan, and Grace, and all the other elites — stop browbeating everyone else.
I realize Scottius Polke is the new darling of the art world. How does Mr. Polke support himself? On air? And how did he come into this world, if not by sex, and does he refrain from sex in RL in order to perform his Art?
Why this terribly false and unnecessary aestheticism?
Why can your lovely art never, ever stand alone, Dusan? Why can it only define itself as what it is not? Not Sex. Not Money. Not Drama. Not Mass Culture.
Perhaps, under the Big Top, is “nothing, nothing, nothing at all…”
Dear Prokofy,
I am surprised by such a controversy and hate about a little machinima.
My only purpose in this video was to share a self point of vue within a piece of work art. I didn’t wanted to revolutionize anything in the metaverse, far away of that, and certainly not spark off a polemic. I just wanted to share what i feel. I think it’s what you defend yourself when you talk of liberty? So let me have the freedom to express myself in my little side.
But i understand so well you didn’t appreciate my work. It’s your right and i respect it.
Hope you understood my point of vue sir, and please be a little more comprehensive and less wantonly hurtful with others, if i could dare.
To see you someday InWorld in a kind meeting to erase this useless anger
And yes Juanita Deharo, sorry: Lunamaruna IS a creation of Scottius Polke( Zachh Cale told me earlier:). Will write it under the film soon.
Thank you for all your nice comments, it goes deep in my heart.
Yours
Sam

Sam, I guess the machinima has been a catalyst for thought for many – not just about your content, but about where we are going with SL art. It made me think …. see my blog post Secrets, Rumour, Fear -http://bit.ly/ciSptq …..which was my personal reaction to this posting of your video by Dusan.

read your post…correct analysis.
and its been the way LL has been from day one.
btw- read online about the “artist” who treid to buy an IPAD at the apple store with cash…600usd.. and was refused.
Apple wont sell to those with cash.. only a credit card/debit card…
Sam, you’re pushing that usual false position one encounters so often among the geeks of SL: that if I criticize your position, which I loathe; if I say you’re wrong; if I say I have another point of view, you thrash and beat your chest and claim I’ve told you that you can’t have an opinion or I’ve somehow stopped you from your freedom of expression.
What other tripe. You had your freedom of expression. And, um, now it’s my turn, and I’ve had mine. One doesn’t cancel out the other. Can you bear it? Or is it always “freedom of expression for me, and not for thee” with you?
So of course, I’ve done nothing whatsoever to “stop” your freedom of expression; to say “you can’t have it”; or to somehow even “place a chill on it”. Again, what *utter tripe*. I’ve merely said your art is bad art; your idea is a bad idea; and I’m right about that.
It’s my conviction, and you’ll have to live with it; that’s what freedom of expression and tolerance *are*. I think you are wrong, and your idea is bad, because I think it is false and a lie; you bash on what you see as “low culture” in SL; you hate on sex or drama or cheap malls or whatever you find “non-aesthetic,” but then…your own message is hollow and shallow. You can’t seem to define yourself in any way except by hating on something else, invoking something else. That is not beauty. That is not art. That is propaganda.
No, I will not be “more comprehensive and less hurtful”. Why? Have you no concept of what criticism and dissent are all about? are you such a wilting flower that you can put out this *kitsch* and provoke us all to weep big silicon tears in our artificial life, and then not be able to take it when someone says, “No, I won’t. I refuse.”
I have no interest in meeting you in world WHATSOEVER. What a tribal affectation! As if you can meet with someone, and make their actual genuine real point of view “go away”! As if it is based merely on “anger”. It isn’t. It’s based on a sharp, penetrating realization that you are making shallow kitsch, and that the only way you can tart up this display is by banging on sex, drama, money. For shame. You are merely more of the same.
Honestly it is fully *despicable* and totally *dishonest* intellectually — and perhaps you have no pretentions of being an intellectual, and that’s the problem! — to say “Let me have a little freedom” as if *disagreeing* with you takes away your freedom. It doesn’t. Deal with it. Grow up. The world is not the Singularity. You do not own it. I am not a gadget.

And I step, and I say: stop the hate. And that what is being proferred to us as “better” is in fact saccharine kitsch. And I know I’m right about that.
There are tons of better machinimas about there with far greater skills and aesthetics. But those aren’t referenced here. Because what SL Booster Number One is doing here is running a “let’s all get happy about SL and not be negative” Public Service Message here.
