On November 17, the the MacArthur Foundation, the USC Network Culture Project and Global Kids will host “Real World Impacts from the Virtual World” in Second Life. As part of the project, the MacArthur Foundation will debut its island in Second Life.
The event will take place on the Foundations Sims in Second Life and happens from 1-5 PM PST. The schedule includes the following topics:
- Real World Impact from the Public Good Community Challenge
- Tours of the Foundations Sim
- Panel and discussion on Alliance Building in Virtual Worlds
- Panel Discussion on Using Virtual Worlds for Learning
- Breakout sessions.
Also featured are reflections from Rik Panganiban of Global Kids and Doug Thomas of the USC Network Culture Project. They will talk about the impact that virtual worlds have made on the public good.
