Student Nurses in Scotland turn to Second Life

Starting in 2009, nurses across Scotland will begin to use Second Life as part of their training regimen, according to the Nursing Times, the UK’s weekly nursing publication.

We’re seeing increasing use cases for health care training in Second Life. In this case, lecturers will program other avatars with particular ailments and the student avatar will then assess and offer a diagnosis of the patient.

Glasgow Caledonian University will be one of the first schools to adopt the Second Life training. To that end, the school has created a sim that duplicates the school’s clinical skills laboratory.
