04.20.10New Apple Patent Shows Continued Move into Virtual WorldApple has been awarded a continuation patent that points to the company continuing its deep push into the virtual world/virtual shopping arena. Back in February of this year, Apple won a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office entitled "3D Virtual Apple Store," as reported on Patently Apple. But just this past week the company was given a continuation patent called the "Enhancing Online Shopping Atmosphere" that involves a 3D component that includes support from live Apple reps. 10.24.09Apple’s Magic Mouse and Virtual WorldsOK - gadget drool alert - but I love the look of the new Apple Magic Mouse, and I immediately wondered whether this couldn't be some kind of middle ground between a mouse and the Space Navigator as an interface device for virtual worlds. The new Magic Mouse allows clicks, 360 degree scrolling, screen zoom and swipes. I'm imagining using it to control your camera position in Second Life. 12.13.08Apple iPhone a Gaming Platform?By way of Engadget: "John Geleynse (AKA Director of Technology Evangelism at Apple) made some statements regarding the iPhone platform that should seriously raise a few eyebrows.
